His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Anang Mamoudou, presided over the signing of a partnership agreement between the National Centre for University Services and the National Health Solidarity Fund (CNASS) in Nouakchott on Wednesday.
This agreement, signed by the Director General of the National Centre for University Services, Mr. Mohamed El Razi Seddane, and the Director General of CNAS, Ms. Amal Cheikh Abdallah, aims to provide effective and comprehensive health insurance for students and contract workers in accordance with the principles of health solidarity.
This successful cooperation between the Centre and ‘CNASS’ represents a decisive step in improving access to healthcare for students and workers at the University Centre.
In her speech on the occasion, the Director General of the National Health Solidarity Fund expressed her delight at attending this important event, which saw university students gain access to health insurance through the signing of a cooperation agreement between ‘CNASS’ and the National Centre for University Services.
She added that university students are one of the most important target groups of the fund, which was created in accordance with the programme of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
She said that students who have health insurance are more reassured and able to seek treatment in a timely manner, which has a positive impact on their ability to continue their studies and acquire knowledge.
The Director General of the National Centre for University Services explained that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the guidance of His Excellency the President of the Republic, has adopted a new strategy to develop and improve the performance of this public facility, with the aim of bringing the service closer to students, introducing a quality approach in the field of services, and establishing the principles of good governance in terms of management and organisation.
He added that today's signing of the student health insurance agreement with the National Health Solidarity Fund is a very important step towards improving conditions for students, which will have a positive impact on student health in general.
He noted that this signing is an achievement and proof of the commitment to implementing the pledges of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani to establish higher education that meets the requirements of the country's sustainable development and keeps pace with the establishment of the republican school.
It should be noted that the National Center for University Services is an institution that works to improve the living and studying conditions of students in higher education institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the National Health Solidarity Fund.
