The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, His Excellency Mr. Anang Mamoudi, presided this morning at the Mauritanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture over the launch of a workshop on the application of artificial intelligence to agriculture.
In his speech, His Excellency said that the purpose of this meeting, whose theme overlaps with all the axes of the program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, relating to advanced scientific research, is, among other things, to identify the needs of Mauritanian agriculture for innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence and to learn about successful experiences in this field and introduce them in Mauritania.
From this perspective, His Excellency the Minister said that the event is fully in line with the strategies and action plans of the government of Prime Minister Mohamed Ould Bilal for the sectors of higher education and scientific research, agriculture, and food security, and aims to contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives of maintaining the country's food security and achieving food self-sufficiency.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Al-Afia Ould Mohamed Khona, President of the Mauritanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, the Secretary General of the Ministry, Dr. Al-Mukhtar Handa, members of the Ministry's staff, and a number of guests.
